Bulleit Bourbon and La Gloria Cubana star in fun and engaging event.
A gathering of cigar smokers – both novice and experienced – gathered for a lively event at La Casa Las Vegas for the second of its La Casa Cigar Educational Series events. The event paired Bulleit Bourbon along with La Gloria Cubana cigars at the lush lounge located in Tivoli Village near Summerlin.
The sold out event brought together a diverse group of cigar smokers looking to learn about one of the world’s top selling bourbons and what cigar pairs well with the spirit. Admission to the event included one La Gloria Cubana Serie R Number 7 Natural, and four different Bulliet drinks: Bulleit Bourbon, Bulleit Rye, Bulleit 10 Year Bourbon, and a passion fruit mixed drink including Bulleit Bourbon.
The La Gloria Cubana Serie R Number 7 Natural was a very nice selection to pair with the various Bulleit products we enjoyed. With its seven-inch length, and 58 ring gauge, it was a nice, long smoke that lasted the entire two hours of the event. It’s Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper was beautiful and inviting.
The cigar is a medium bodied with some kick at the end, as we discovered. While it paired nicely with all of the quality Bulleit products, pairing it with the Bulleit Rye gave us the best mix and combination for the evening.
The cigar smoked very well and the burn exquisite. It stayed consistent throughout with just a little bit of harshness as we smoked it to a nub. At a price point of $12-13, it’s a nice cigar we recommend highly to our readers. It’s a hefty stick and a perfect stick for a longer sit down smoke.
Thanks to General Cigar’s Ed Trevino who gave everyone the deep lowdown on the history of La Gloria Cubana and talked also about cigar pairings with other spirits. He had the room laughing and asking some solid cigar questions.
Bulleit Bourbon is one of the strongest and fastest growing brands in the spirits world. Now owned by the mighty Diagio, Bulleit Bourbon continues to build its fan base because it’s just a great product for the price. Its Bulleit Rye is the best selling rye in the world – yes, the world. It is that good and all of us at Las Vegas Cigar Guys keep a bottle at home. It always pairs nicely with a medium bodied to bold cigar.
Southern Wine and Spirits Master Mixologist and Spirits Educator Max Solano did a yeoman’s job educating the capacity crowd about the origins of bourbon, it’s production, differences between them, and why Bulleit Bourbon is one of the best selling out there. His wit and knowledge really brought this portion of the evening to life and resulted in a highly entertaining and community-focused event.
With this series of events, La Casa is starting to reach out to experienced and novice smokers alike. The events offer a safe and comfortable environment to learn, experience and enjoy cigars. Credit goes to La Casa for mixing it up and inviting new smokers in to learn the hobby we all love.
